Shooting Leads to Fatal Car Crash: Cops

Police say the victim appeared to have been shot in the chest.

Police say a shooting is what led to a car crashing into a Delaware County home, killing the driver.

It happened Sunday around 1:30 a.m. at a house on the 200 block of North Maple Avenue in Lansdowne. Investigators say the vehicle slammed into the attached garage of the home. The impact started a fire that consumed most of the car and spread to the house. While there were people inside the home during the accident, police say none of them were hurt.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead. Police say the victim appeared to have been shot in the chest and was burned beyond recognition. Investigators are currently trying to identify him. They also say the victim's car is registered out of New York.
