Double Shooting Injures Kid, Teen

A double shooting has landed a Philadelphia child and teen in the hospital.

Gunshots rang out at Tasker and Taney Streets in South Philadelphia around 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to Philadelphia Police.

A 9-year-old boy was shot in the chest and foot. He was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in critical condition.

The 18-year-old was shot in the hip and ankle. He was listed in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Mayor Nutter, who was at an event just 10 blocks from the shooting, said the shooting was an unfortunate situation.

“We want the citizens to be safe, we want people to be out on the street and enjoy the great life that Philadelphia has to offer. But some people haven’t gotten the message and we are doing everything we can on the public safety side to make sure the citizens are safe,” Nutter said.

Police say they are investigating a motive, but currently do not have any suspects.
