Mom Turns in Son for Donation Jar Theft

If any parent knows about tough love, it’s the mother of the local thief who made off with a donation jar last weekend.

Mom turned in her son after he allegedly stole a donation jar from a 7-Eleven in Warminster, Bucks County.

Surveillance videos captured the young man as he picked up the jar and left the store.

He got away with an undetermined amount of cash.

After NBC10 aired the story on Monday, the tips started flooding in, said police.

Many locals felt they knew the identity of the suspect right away.

“The name that we’re coming up with so far is a guy that’s local, that’s known to us and that we’ve had contact with before,” Warminster Chief of Police Michael Murphy had told NBC10.

This is the second time the jar has been swiped from the Warminster 7-Eleven.

In May, 22-year-old Melissa Ann Sanginiti and 23-year-old Sofia Ugarte allegedly stole a donation jar with $30 inside from the 7-Eleven.

The 7-Eleven’s donation jar supports two charities dear to the hearts of many in the area.

One is the Wheeled Scotsman Foundation, founded in 2006 by Joe Harper, who had muscular dystrophy and wanted to help others through his organization. Joe passed away last January from sepsis and respiratory failure.

The other charity is the Christine McGhee Fund. In 2008, her boyfriend allegedly hit her with his car then dragged her about 100 feet.
