Doctor Wanted for Fondling Hospital Patients: Cops

Police are searching for first year resident who allegedly abused women

Police are searching for a 27-year-old doctor who allegedly sexually fondled six female patients at a Newark, Del., hospital in October and November of last year.

Shyamkrishnan Ramdas, who was a first year resident of internal medicine at Christiana Hospital, is being sought on multiple charges of unlawful sexual contact and abuse and mistreatment of a patient, according to Delaware State Police.

Ramdas entered the hospital rooms of six female patients between the ages of 20 and 32 wearing a white lab coat and acting as their doctor. Ramdas then improperly touched and fondled the women and then left the rooms, police say.

Ramdas accessed the medical records of all six victims on the hospital computer before he performed what he called “physical exams” on the female patients. This all occurred between Oct. 1 and Nov. 15, police say.

In three of the incidents, the victims were “non-teaching” patients that Ramdas must have sought out, as he had no direct patient-care responsibilities with them, police say.

Ramdas faces six counts of unlawful sexual contact and six counts of abuse, mistreatment or neglect of a patient.

The wanted doctor is no longer employed by Christiana Health Care System.

If anyone know of Ramdas whereabouts, or has more information on these incidents, call Major Crimes Unit at Troop 2: (302) 834-2630.
