Act of Kindness Adds to Girl's Disney Memories

Complete stranger returns girl's Disney autograph book

A Delaware County, Pa. girl had reason to smile after a stranger from across the country surprised her with a special gift.

“It’s such a wonderful reminder of the kindness of people,” said the girl’s mom Nikki Donze.

The story has an air of a Disney movie to it -- maybe that’s because it starts at Disney World and Epcot Center in Orlando, Fla.

Kyra’s parent surprised her with a Disney trip. They wanted to reward the 9-year-old for being a “good big sister,” helping her younger sister Delaney get ready every day.

Kyra was having a great time in Disney -- her parents even got her a book to keep autographs from all of her favorite Disney characters.

“She wrote her name and address in the autograph book right away and the she started to go get signatures,” said Kyra’s mom Nikki.

But just like that the book and its memories were lost.

“I put it down for a second because I wanted to take a picture… but I forgot it there,” the girl said.

It was gone -- and almost forgotten.

But Sacramento, Calif. radio DJ Gavin Ferguson found Kyra’s special keepsake and made sure the girl’s memories wouldn’t be forgotten.

Gavin was on his honeymoon with his wife Stacey when they found Kyra’s book. They waited to see if someone would claim it but no one came.

That was when Gavin got an idea.

“Let’s take it with us and we’ll fill it out some more and maybe we’ll send it to her when we get home,” he said.

Once he got home to California, Gavin shared his plan. His listeners on 107.9 The End were touched when he told them about the book and his idea to send it home to Kyra with a personal note tucked inside.

“So we get it open and somebody had sent my autograph book in the mail,” said a smiling Kyra.

Along with Gavin’s note and pages of autographs from Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto and Snow White were pictures of the newlyweds.

For as much as Gavin gave something to Kyra, the young girl’s family gave Gavin something more.

“There’s something about this family and the way Nikki talks about her daughter, it just makes me so happy that his happened for her,” said Gavin.

“I would like to tell him thank you, like, so much!”

Maybe next time Gavin visits family that face-to-face meeting could happen. Gavin hails from Upper Darby, Pa. -- right down the street from Kyra’s home of Media.

That joyous moment would make the perfect Disney ending.
