Dems Look to Keep Del. Blue

Del. democrat hints toward running for U.S. Senate

With Beau Biden declining his father’s U.S. senate seat, Delaware democrats are looking to fresh-faced Chris Coons to prevent the state from going republican.

While Coons has not confirmed that he will run, he told Politico.com that he is “seriously considering running for the open seat.”

After the recent upset in Massachusetts with Republican Scott Brown winning Democrat Ted Kennedy’s seat, many Democrats are worried that the public’s discontent is calling for regime change all over the U.S., and Delaware democrats are hoping Coons will keep their blue state from turning red.

Coons, who has been serving as New Castle County’s County Executive for the past several years would be, “a strong replacement candidate thanks to his status as a Washington outsider,” says Politico.com. He has a strong record on job creation and reforming the county police force, reports Politico.

Coons told Politico he has received several calls from community leaders and friends encouraging him to run for the open seat and needs more some more time to discuss this with friends and family before making a decision.

Coons confirms a decision will be made in the next few days.
