Delaware Woman Steals More Than $400K From Disabled Sister

A Wilmington woman has been sentenced to a year in prison for embezzling more than $400,000 from her disabled sister.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said in a news release that 40-year-old Rachel Woodall was also ordered to pay restitution at sentencing Monday in federal court in Wilmington.

According to court documents, Woodall was responsible for managing the finances of her intellectually disabled sister. In November 2014, the sister received large sums in back Social Security benefits. Prosecutors say that's when Woodall started embezzling from her.

Authorities say Woodall spent the money on herself, including the purchase of two Mercedes Benz cars.

Prosecutors say Woodall continued withdraw money from her sister's bank account after pleading guilty to conversion of Social Security benefits in January.
