Teen Blamed in Baby Carjacking

A teenager was arrested and charged with stealing a car with an infant inside from a Wilmington gas station on Monday.

Court records show  the 17-year old took another woman's car from the very same gas station in November, according to The News Journal.

In this latest case, the baby's mother came out of the Sunoco store to see the teen slamming her car door shut and driving off, she told police.

"Stop, my baby is in the car," Tiffany Righter, 24, yelled as she banged on the car window, according to court records.

Righter admitted she left her 5-month old son in the car -- unlocked -- with the engine running while she ran inside the store.

Righter's car was found with the baby inside, unharmed.

It was the second time in two days that a baby was taken in a carjacking. The first incident happened over the weekend in Center City. That baby was also found safe.
