Burglars Hit Delaware Shore Homes

Burglars are targeting vacant seasonal homes along Delaware's coast.

At least six houses were burglarized in the past two weeks between Henlopen Acres and Rehoboth Beach, according to North Shores community security Supervisor Lee Stewart.

The burglars broke into locked homes and got away with six flat screen televisions, a Wii game console and a DVD player.

Stewart is overseeing a joint security effort for Henlopen Acres and North Shores and says guards are increasing their presence in the affected area and asking homeowners to keep a lookout.

Many homes in the community are vacant during the winter months and despite the fact that most have alarm systems, burglars are finding their way in and out so far without being caught.
