Delaware Pride Festival Moves to State Capital

Organizers of Delaware's Pride Festival have moved the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender event to Dover for the first time to thank lawmakers for enacting marriage equality.

The News Journal reports the festival was held in the state capital Saturday for the first time and drew a crowd of about 1,000 people to the lawn in front of Legislative Hall. The festival included drag shows, vendor booths and other entertainment.

This was the 17th year for Delaware Pride. The festival has long been held in Rehoboth Beach or New Castle County.

Steve Newman says the location change was also meant to create a more central location so everyone in the state can attend. He says the festival will return to Dover next year.
