A Delaware man has died as a result of injuries he sustained after being hit by a car in Milford Friday night.
The Delaware State Police say the accident happened shortly after midnight Saturday on North DuPont Boulevard. Troopers say 60-year-old George F. Henderson of Milford was attempting to cross the highway when he was struck by a car.
The victim, who was wearing dark clothing, was not crossing in a designated crosswalk, according to authorities. Police say Henderson may also have consumed alcohol earlier in the evening.
Troopers urge pedestrians to use caution when walking on or near roadways.
Pedestrians should use appropriate cross walks, look both ways before crossing, and make themselves visible to drivers by wearing light colored clothing and reflective materials. They recommend carrying a flashlight at night for additional safety.
