Clerk robbed of cash at book buy back tent near Newark campus

Newark Police say a clerk at a tent at which college students sell used textbooks was robbed at gunpoint.

It happened about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at the tent on Elkton Road in the parking lot of Buffalo Wild Wings. Officers say two men approached the 29-year-old clerk. One showed a handgun and demanded money.

The clerk gave the men cash and they ran away towards the pedestrian underpass leading to the Rodney Dining Complex and then towards the CSX railroad tracks.

Police described the armed suspect as a thin black man between 25 to 30 years old, standing 5-foot-10 to 6-foot tall who was wearing a black hoodie, and black pants. His alleged accomplice was described as a stocky white man between 25 to 30 years old with brown or black hair, standing between 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 tall who was wearing a gray hoodie with horizontal stripes, dark pants and gray sneakers.

The clerk was not hurt.
