A New Castle County man was charged Wednesday with raping a 9-year-old child on at least 10 occasions.
Julio Cruz-Castellanos, 31, from the Collins Park community allegedly sexually abused a child starting when the victim was just 7 years old, according to New Castle County Police.
Police began investigating the alleged rapes in July. The most recent incident allegedly happened about three months ago, cops said.
Further details of the case were withheld to help protect the victim, cops said.
Authorities located Cruz-Castellanos in his home and arrested him after confirming his alleged involvement, police said.
Cruz-Castellanos is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child, unlawful sexual contact in the third degree and 10 counts of second-degree rape.
He was arraigned and was detained after failing to post $276,000 bail.
