Man Steals Youth Donation Box From Delaware 7-Eleven: Police

A man was arrested after he allegedly stole a youth donation box from a Rehoboth Beach, Delaware 7-Eleven store.

On Wednesday around 10:45 a.m., an employee at the 7-Eleven on the 500 block of Rehoboth Avenue reported to police that the West Rehoboth Children and Youth donation box had been stolen off the store counter.

An officer reviewed surveillance video which revealed the theft had taken place back on February 22. In the video, a man in a Green Bay Packers jacket approaches the counter and grabs the donation box while the clerk isn’t looking, police said. He then places the box under his jacket and leaves the store.

Police later identified the suspect as 50-year-old Craig Beckett of Rehoboth and arrested him at his job in Lewes, Delaware around 8 a.m. Thursday. While being taken into custody, Beckett asked officers if he could have his jacket which his co-worker handed to him, according to police. Investigators say that jacket was the same Green Bay Packers jacket that was seen in the surveillance video.

During an interview Beckett allegedly confessed to taking the donation box. He was charged with misdemeanor theft and later arraigned.
