Del. Seeks Volunteers to Count Bats

Delaware's Division of Fish and Wildlife is looking for volunteers to locate and count the state's bat colonies.

Officials say the flying mammals are moving from winter hibernation sites to summer maternity colonies. Delaware is home to eight species of bats.

The Delaware Bat Count is a research study of bat populations, breeding activity and the overall health of the bats in the state.

To report a bat colony, or for more information on volunteering as a bat spotter, residents can call 302-735-8674.
