Del. Police Arrest Rape Suspect on DNA

Man suspected of two Stanton-area abductions, rapes.

State police have arrested a suspect in the sexual assaults of two women in the Stanton area of northern Delaware.

Police said Tuesday that they used a nationwide database to match DNA evidence in the case to DNA previously indexed in Maryland and Virginia. Using that information, they were able to identify the suspect as 40-year-old Alfred D. Hubbard of the unit block of Blue Ridge Drive in Bear, Del.

Authorities staked out Hubbard's apartment and arrested him early Tuesday.

Investigators say the suspect forced his way into the womens' vehicles at gunpoint and made them drive to various locations where he raped them.

The first attack occurred June 2 when a man matching Hubbard’s description carjacked the victim in a parking lot on the 1000 block of Twin C Lane in Newark, Del. He threatened the woman with a gun and forced her to drive to various locations where he raped her.

The second attack occurred three days later when he carjacked a woman in the parking lot of 300 Continental Drive, and made her drive to other places where he raped her multiple times.

Authorities say Hubbard will be charged with five counts of rape, two counts of kidnapping, robbery, seven counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and other crimes.
