Del. Man Throws 1252 Bags of Heroin During Foot Chase: Cops

Police say the suspect threw a Food Lion bag full of bags of heroin behind a school before he was arrested

Delaware Police arrested a 22-year-old man in Millsboro after he ditched more than 1,000 bags of heroin.

Derrell D. Gibbs was a passenger in a car that police pulled over for a traffic violation. Gibbs jumped out of the blue Chevy Malibu on Sunday afternoon and took off on foot, police say. Officers chased him and arrested him near Long Neck Elementary School.

Before he surrendered to authorities, Gibbs threw a Food Lion grocery store bag full of bags of heroin -- 1252 to be exact -- to the ground, according to police.

Gibbs is being held on $81,600 secured bond.

Police are looking for the driver of the Malibu.
