Del. Man Makes Crank Calls to 911: Cops

A Dover man is accused of harassing a 911 operator repeatedly, using a prerecorded message.

A Dover man was arrested and charged with making repeated harassing phone calls to a Sussex County 9-1-1 center, according to Delaware State Police.

Justin M. Thorne, 23, made four phones calls within four minutes to the center near Georgetown in September 2011, say police.

Thorne used a previously recorded message to harass the operator, according to investigators.

Computer equipment and cellular phones were removed from Thorne's Fieldcrest Drive home by detectives on Monday. Thorne was taken into custody and charged with four counts of harassment and four counts of malicious interference with emergency communications.

The Delaware State Police is currently working with Massachusetts State Police as well as other agencies in Massachusetts on similar harassing phone calls to their agencies.
