Del. Man Charged with Murder in Alleged Abduction

Authorities have tentatively identified a body found as that of Marsha Lee

Police have charged a Wilmington man with murder in the alleged abduction and killing of a 65-year-old woman who disappeared after taking her dog for a walk.

Authorities said 24-year-old Dwight L. Smith was taken into custody Monday night after a detective stopped a vehicle matching witness descriptions of an SUV involved an incident earlier that day with the alleged victim, Marsha Lee.

A body recovered Monday afternoon off of Rockwood Road was tentatively identified as that of Lee. Authorities were still awaiting positive identification and a cause of death Tuesday from the medical examiner's office.

Authorities said searches of Smith's home and vehicle provided enough evidence to obtain warrants charging him with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree kidnapping. Smith is being held without bond.
