Del. Man Arrested for 6th DUI

Officers say they found drugs inside the man's car

Delaware State Police arrested Michael Taggart, 52, of New Castle, for his 6th DUI offense on Saturday night.

Police say Taggart was stopped by officers for speeding just before midnight near New Bridge and Old Barley Mill Road near Wilmington.

The trooper said he could smell alcohol coming from the car, and Taggart was taken into custody. After searching his car, officer's found there was marijuana and Xanax pills inside.

Taggart's previous five DUI convictions date back to 1994. His most recent conviction was in July of 2010.

He has been charged with felony DUI and driving while suspended, failure to have insurance, speeding, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of marijuana.
