Del. Cyclist Struck, Dragged by Trash Truck

Delaware State Police say a bicyclist was seriously injured after being struck and dragged 200 feet by a garbage truck in Newark.

Police say the crash happened Monday afternoon on New Castle Avenue, where the truck was turning. The truck was being driven by 56-year-old Michael Duffy, who police say did not see the bicyclist until he was alerted by witnesses.

New Castle Avenue was closed for about two hours while the crash was being investigated.

The 59-year-old bicyclist was taken to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center, where he was admitted in serious condition with multiple injuries.
