Woman Killed in Wissinoming Hit and Run

A woman is dead following a hit and run that happened in the Wissinoming section of the city Thursday morning, police said.

Police say Joyce Kenny, 46, was hit on Torresdale Avenue and Fraley Street just before 7 a.m.

Witnesses tell NBC Philadelphia that they watched the vehicle involved, a bright blue pickup with silver flames on the side, flee the scene.

Police located the truck short time later on Milnor Street near Comly Road. Around the same time, the owner of the vehicle reported it stolen.

Authorities went to the pickup owner's home on the 48-hundred block of Devereaux Street where they took several people in for questioning.

Kenny was a Department of Veterans Affairs employee for the Philadelphia Regional Office and Insurance Center for 28 years. She served veterans and their beneficiaries as a claims assistant in the Insurance Claims Division.

"She was a beautiful person, she was a good person," said Phil Gillice, a friend of Kenny. "She would do anything for you."
