Elderly Man and Woman Die in Wilmington Nursing Home Shooting

Editor's Note: On Monday, Delaware State Police identified the husband and wife involved in the murder-suicide.

An 82-year-old man and 79-year-old woman were found dead Saturday of apparent gunshot wounds inside a Wilmington, Delaware, nursing facility, officials said.

The woman was a resident of ManorCare Health Services. She and the other victim were found around 1:15 p.m. when law enforcement officers responded to reports of a shooting.

A handgun was recovered at the scene, officials said.

Officials will continue to investigate the situation. The victims' identities were not released pending notification of next of kin.
