Beloved Store Owner Killed in Delaware

A store owner was murdered Tuesday night in Wilmington, Delaware.

Norman Alhout, 56, was the owner of Johnny’s Food Market on the 12-hundred block of Maryland Avenue.

Alhout was shot in the head during an an attempted robbery, police said.

On Wednesday, throughout the day, people stopped by the store, leaving notes, lighting candles and talking about their memories of Norman.

"Norman was a pillar in this community. If you needed it, Norman gave it to you," said Antoine Harrison. "He didn't ask for it back. It wasn't a problem. If you were going without and you were in need, he had a heart of gold."

Police are searching for the suspects -- two men -- and say all they know about them is that they were both wearing hoodies.
