Stick-Up Victim Forced to Buy Cigarettes for Thieves

At least the victim didn't have to buy them dinner, too.

A man stuck up by two robbers in West Philly was forced to buy them cigarettes and cigars, police said.

After 1 a.m. on May 24, a man was approached near 4717 Cedar Avenue by two men in their early 20's.  The robbers took the victim's cell phone at gun point, and instructed him to purchase cigarettes and cigars for them at a nearby convenience store.

All three walked into the store together.  While the victim bought the tobacco products with his credit card, the robbers tried to withdraw money from the ATM machine using his debit card.

They all departed the store together, and the victim handed over the smokes.  The robbers then ordered him to lay down on the ground, which he did, and then they fled.

The trip into the convenience store was captured on video camera.  The surveillance video can be viewed here.
