There may be fewer cops in Camden, but concerned citizens are stepping in to help.

You'll know the concerned citizens by their scarlet red jackets and red berets.

Forty Guardian Angels from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania to shore up Camden security.  The city may be cut half of its 370 member police force on January 18, when layoffs will be announced.

The Guardian Angels describe themselves as "volunteers who provide public safety and education in our neighborhood streets."  Curtis Sliwa, the organization's leader, was in Camden Saturday night to organize community patrols.

The Angels have announced that they will walk a beat around the PATCO station near Broadway.

Sliwa's group is taking volunteers from the community to join them in their patrols.
