Bausch, Tamayo Pedal to Silver

Pa. flavor on the track as U.S. wins silver in Women's Team Pursuit

Berks County native Lauren Tamayo and Villanova grad Dotsie Bausch took home a silver medal as members of the United States’ Women’s Team Pursuit cycling team.

Tamayo, 27, and Bausch, 39, along with teammate Sarah Hammer had no chance in the final against Great Britain as the homeland cyclists set a world record of 3:14.051 -- more than 5 seconds ahead of the American’s time of 3:19.727.

The U.S. rode to Saturday’s final thanks to an improbable come-from-behind win over Australia with Jennie Reed riding in that race in place of Tamayo.

The Olympic medal was a first for both Tamayo and Bausch.
