Curious George Continues to Recover

The Delco SPCA says George has gained 20 pounds since being found starving on lying on the side of the road two weeks ago.

A pit bull mix found starving on the side of the road in Delaware County continues to recover.

The dog was deliberately starved and only weighed 35 pounds when he was found by a Good Samaritan and brought to the Delaware County SPCA back on Halloween.

The animal, named “Curious George” by SPCA members, garnered support nationwide once word of his story spread. Countless people have donated money to a reward fund to help bring those responsible for George’s abuse to justice. So far no arrests have been made.

The SPCA put George on a strict feeding schedule. He is being fed a special diet every two hours with his weight monitored daily.

George has proven to be a true fighter, showing amazing progress in his health, according to the SPCA. George is currently 55 pounds, gaining 20 pounds in two weeks.

The SPCA will neuter him and give him a behavioral evaluation next week after he puts on more weight. After that they will determine the type of home George will need and place him up for adoption.

The SPCA plans to issue a statement letting the public know the exact date George will be available for adoption and how they can apply.

You can donate money for George and check his recovery status by visiting the Delaware County SPCA website.
