Coast Guard and state police crews say they have found the body of a swimmer reported missing over the weekend.
The body of 24-year-old Christian Alfred was discovered in shallow water at Wildwood Crest Beach near Lavender Road around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
Officials say Alfred was swimming in the area of Rio Grande Ave. Saturday night. Witnesses say he began to struggle in the water and then failed to resurface.
Wildwood Police Detective Division and the Cape May County Prosecutors Office are conducting an investigation.
Authorities say Alfred is a Miami native who was attending school in New York City.
