Crash Injures Philadelphia Police Officers, 2 Others

Two Philadelphia police officers and two others were injured in a crash while chasing a car in West Philadelphia around lunchtime Sunday.

The accident involving a police cruiser and two other vehicles happened around 12 p.m. in the area of 55th Street and Haverford Ave., officials said. Police say officers were chasing an armed suspect during the time of the crash.

The officer was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Hospital by fellow officers. A female officer, who was a passenger in the cruiser, was also taken to Penn by ambulance, according to authorities.

Two people from one of the other vehicles involved were also hospitalized at Lankenau.

The suspect escaped capture, police said.

All four of the people injured were in stable condition.
