Crash Closes I-95 in Newark

Two people were injured in a crash that closed a portion of I-95 for more than three hours.

The northbound lanes of Interstate 95 were closed for three and a half hours on Wednesday afternoon as Delaware State Police investigated and cleared a multi-vehicle accident.

Delaware State Police told NBC10 that a Honda Civic operated by Margery Szczepanski, 58, was traveling south on I-95 in the center lane just after 3 p.m. The Civic moved into the right lane and struck the rear of a Jeep Cherokee. The Jeep traveled across all lanes and the median and onto northbound I-95, where it struck a Subaru Legacy that was traveling north.

The driver of the Jeep has not been identified, but police told NBC10 the person is in critical condition at Christiana Hospital Trauma Center.

The driver of the Subaru is in stable condition at Christiana Hospital and has not been identified.

Szczepanski and her passenger were not injured.

Police say the crash remains under investigation.
