Counselor Lied to Cover Up Affair With Suspect: Police

State police say a woman who does court-ordered counseling with central Pennsylvania domestic violence suspects falsely claimed one such client sexually assaulted her to cover up her affair with the man.

WJAC-TV says 50-year-old Cindy Brumbaugh, of Howard, has been charged with filing a false police report. Troopers in Bellefonte say the woman claimed she was assaulted by a Centre County court client after her husband found out she was in a car crash with the client last month. In reality, police say the woman was covering her tracks because she had spent the night in a motel with the client.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Brumbaugh, who doesn't have a listed phone number.

Brumbaugh's employer, Actions Counseling Services in Bellefonte, didn't immediately return calls for comment Thursday.
