Attempted Firebombing at Philadelphia Correction Officer's Home

This is the second time the officer was a victim of violence. In a shooting two weeks ago the officer was shot and his son was killed, police say.

A Philadelphia corrections officer, who was shot nearly two weeks ago and whose son was killed in that same shooting, has become the victim of an attempted firebombing at his home.

Police say someone threw a Molotov cocktail at the home of 50-year-old Victor Guzman in the 1200 block of Adams Avenue in Frankford around 5:30 Saturday morning. Guzman was home asleep in bed at the tim.

Investigators say the firebomb did not ignite and no one was injured.

Police say Guzman and his 24-year-old son Edward Pagan were the victims of a shooting just two weeks ago. Investigators say on the evening of May 20 Pagan was gunned down after an argument with two men on the 1200 block of Adams Avenue in Frankford. Family members say it was over a cigarette.

Pagan was shot in the chest and died from his injuries. Guzman was shot in the wrist.

Police released a photo of the suspect in the shooting of Guzman and his son. He is identified as 20-year-old Jalil Cooper and is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information as to Cooper's whereabouts should call (215) 686-3334.
