Cops Investigate Rash of Berks Co. Car Arsons

A rash of car break-ins and arsons has one Berks County neighborhood on edge.

Reading police and the Kenhorst fire department as well as surrounding fire departments are searching for the men they say may be responsible for the recent bout of vandalism, piracy and robbery.

Police say that about a dozen cars were broken into between Monday night and Tuesday morning – seven of which were set on fire.

Authorities believe that the blazes were started by setting car registrations and insurance cards on fire.

On one street alone, Broadway Boulevard, four cars were found burning, according to the paper.

More were found only blocks away.

Police say they are looking for two men, one of white is being described as a tall, white man with a buzzed head.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is urged to call police or the Berks County tip line at 877-373-9913.
