Convicted NJ Murderer Charged in Another Slaying

A New Jersey man who is now serving a 99-year prison term for murder has been charged in another slaying that dates back to 1985.

State police on Tuesday charged 53-year-old William Tozer with murder in the death of 57-year-old Carl Robinson, whose burned body was found inside a Dennis Township home. Authorities later learned that Tozer had served a prison term for assaulting and robbing Robinson, but they didn't have enough evidence to charge Tozer until the case was reopened in 2012.

Authorities say the murder is believed to have occurred because Robinson provided testimony in an unrelated incident that resulted in Tozer's incarceration.

Tozer pleaded not guilty to the new charge during a court appearance Tuesday in Cape May County.
