Construction Worker Killed on Garden State Parkway

A construction worker was hit and killed on the Garden State Parkway.

Donald Tomaio, 46, was killed when a dump track backed into him. Tomaio and the driver of the truck, Michael Tedesco, were both working in a closed construction area on the busy roadway, according to New Jersey State Police.

The accident happened just before noon on the Southbound side of the road in Bass River Township, Burlington County, New Jersey.

Tomaio, who was from Bayville, New Jersey, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the New Jersey Turnpike website, there is road construction going on in that area to widen the Parkway from two to three lanes and to redeck, repair and upgrade the Bass River Bridge.
