Commissioners Approve Plan for MontCo Super Wawa

The Abington Township Board of Commissioners voted in favor of a plan to build a 24-hour, 4,691-square-foot Wawa store, gas station and 3,500-square-foot bank building on the 800 block of Old York Road in Abington, according to the Times Chronicle.

A Montgomery County town is one step closer to building a brand new Super Wawa.

The Abington Township Board of Commissioners voted in favor of a plan to build a 24-hour, 4,691-square-foot Wawa store, gas station and 3,500-square-foot bank building on the 800 block of Old York Road in Abington, according to the Times Chronicle. The plan also includes 70 on-site parking spaces and an on-site storm-water management system.

The Times Chronicle reports the plan was submitted by Bruce Goodman, a developer with Provco Goodman Jenkintown, LP. The plan is also connected to a zoning amendment approved by commissioners last December that allows 24-hour convenient stores and fueling stations in Abington.

Critics of the plan claim the Wawa will bring increased and unwanted traffic to the neighborhood. The proposal will be re-examined by township officials before the final plan is approved.
