Cocaine, Heroin, Marijuana, Gun Found in Car During Traffic Stop: Police

A man is in custody after police say drugs and a weapon were found inside his car.

On Friday, shortly after 3 p.m., two police officers stopped a car near the intersection of Constitution and Hornet Roads in Camden. Police say they spotted drugs inside the vehicle and asked the driver, identified as 28-year-old Devron Lampkin of Pennsauken, to get out of the car.

Police say Lampkin then tried to flee the officers on foot but was quickly captured after a short chase.
Police say they found 85 small bags of purported heroin, 14 small bags of purported cocaine and three jars of marijuana inside Lampkin’s vehicle. Police also say they found a loaded handgun inside the car.

Lampkin was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon, possession of controlled dangerous substances, resisting arrest and other related offenses. He was remanded to the county jail on $200,000 cash bail or bond.

“This was a significant arrest in that our officers took drugs and a gun off the streets of our city,” said Camden County Police Chief J. Scott Thomson, “Targeting those who illegally possess firearms, thereby jeopardizing all our residents, remains our highest priority.”
