Christmas Murder Suspect Arrested: DA

Murder suspect accused of shooting his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend after she didn’t answer the suspect’s phone calls

The man accused of killing 25-year-old Robens Borno as he wrapped Christmas presents with his girlfriend early Christmas day has been arrested, Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman announced Tuesday.

Police arrested Rayshon Carwheel, 24, on charges of murdering Borno. Carwheel was taken into custody in Philadelphia by U.S. Marshalls, according to Ferman.

Carwheel’s alleged co-conspirator, Ezra Childs, was also arrested at his Philadelphia residence, according to Ferman.

The murder happened just before 2 a.m. Dec. 25. Authorities say Borno, of Philadelphia, was sitting at the dining room table of an Elkins Park home with his girlfriend and her mother wrapping Christmas gifts when Carwheel and Childs came into the home.

Childs served as a lookout and displayed his gun during the murder, according to the DA. Carwheel was then confronted by Borno’s girlfriend and he stated “Oh, this is why you couldn’t answer the phone,” according to investigators.

Carwheel then shot Borno several times, according to the DA. He died about a half-hour later at Einstein Medical Center.

According to Ferman, Carwheel is a former boyfriend of the younger woman. They broke up in early December, a police investigation found.

Carwheel was arraigned and sent to Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail.
