Hospital Ramps Up Security After Alleged Doctor Impostor Assaults

Security was a top concern Monday at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del. after a slew of gropings in the past few weeks.

A hospital employee told NBC Philadelphia's Deanna Durante that departments were notified Monday to be cautious and to make sure all employees wear ID badges.

Delaware State Police are investigating three separate reports of unlawful sexual contact at the hospital between Oct. 29 and Nov. 11.

The victims, all female patients admitted to the hospital, claim that a man entered their rooms, posing as a doctor. The suspect then allegedly performed a physical exam on the women and improperly touched and fondled them before leaving.

All three victims let the hospital know what happened, police say, but the hospital let two weeks go by before notifying police of the first incident, according to Delaware State Police Sgt. Paul G. Shavack.

"At this point, we don't know if there are any more victims," Shavack told The News Journal.

Despite the new measures NBC Philadelphia was still able to gain access to the hospital through the lobby and onto floors in the building.

We wouldn't have been able to access patient rooms as the hospital, a spokeswoman said.

The alleged attacker was still on the loose Monday. He is described as a dark-skinned male, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10, 150 to 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a T-shirt, blue jeans and a white lab coat.
