Police Search for Driver Who Struck 8-Year-Old

The little boy was attending a relative's birthday party when he was struck by a car

An 8-year-old boy struck by a car in West Philadelphia is home recuperating from his injuries as police continue to search for the driver who hit him.

It happened around 9 p.m. Saturday when Isaiah Fletcher ran in between vehicles on the 1400 block of North Hobart Street and was struck. The victim was attending a cousin's birthday party.

"I got hit by a car and my shoes got off and the ambulance came that's all I remember," the little boy told NBCPhiladelphia's Cydney Long.

The young victim suffered a minor concussion and was released from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Sunday morning.

Investigators say the driver, believed to be a female, left the scene. Terry House, the boy's mother, said she heard screams and that her son was bleeding in the street.

"He flipped and hit the dash board and it drug him three feet. My world just crashed, I was trying to be calm for him because he was crying."

Police recovered a silver 2001 Buick Park Avenue on the 5800 block of Media Street believed to be involved in the accident.
