Child's Death May Be Due to Illegal Drugs

A Pittsburgh couple was in custody on child endangerment charges after the woman's daughter was found dead - possibly from ingesting illegal drugs.

Online court records do not list attorneys for 24-year-old Sondra Rector and 62-year-old William Kablach.

Police say they were called about an hour after Rector told officers she found her 18-month-old daughter unresponsive about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say Rector told them she used heroin and left some other stamp bags -- or individual doses -- of the drug and a syringe near the child while Rector slept.

Rector tells police her daughter was unresponsive when she woke up, and that Kablach was shouting about a missing 100 mg morphine pill that he had also left near the girl.

An autopsy was set Wednesday to determine whether the child died from ingesting either or both drugs.
