Pa. High School Trainer Busted for Indecent Assault on Student

Cheltenham High athletic trainer faces a slew of charges after allegedly making unwelcome sexual contact with a teenage girl

A Montgomery County high school athletic trainer was charged Tuesday with indecent assault on a minor after allegedly making inappropriate sexual contact with a 14-year old student last week.

Cheltenham High School athletic trainer Ramon Cintron, 29, was arraigned Tuesday, according to District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman.

The female victim says that Cintron allegedly made unwelcome sexual contact with her inside his school office Thursday, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors say that Cintron apologized to the victim and sent several text messages to the girl also saying that he was sorry -- even urging the girl not to tell anyone about the alleged incident because he “could get locked up.”

Cintron was locked up in county jail Tuesday after failing to post $100,000 cash bail, according to court records.

Cheltenham School District Superintendent Dr. Darlene Davis released the following statement about the allegations:

It has been brought to our attention that authorities have made an arrest today of an individual who is currently contracted with our District. The adult in question is not an employee of the School District of Cheltenham Township, but does currently hold a contract for athletic training services with us through Moss Rehabilitation Center. The grounds for this arrest include alleged inappropriate contact with a female student from Cheltenham High School. As a school district, we strive to provide safe learning and social environments for all of our students. Needless to say, I am deeply saddened and concerned when such environments are compromised. Please know that we will fully support the police in their handling of this matter and will thoroughly support students who have been affected by these events.

Principal Harry Gaffney also sent a letter home to parents asking them to speak to their kids about the "nature of the this matter:"

I would like to formally reiterate the sentiments of Dr. Davis’ letter, as I too am deeply saddened and concerned when the safety and welfare of our school community is jeopardized. Please know, that we at the high school fully intend to work with and support the authorities who are handling this matter. Additionally, please know that CHS Guidance Counselors and professionals from the SDCT Office of Pupil Services are on hand for students who require support.

Besides indecent assault charges, Cintron also faces institutional sexual assault, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of a child, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communications facility charges.
