Delaware prosecutors are moving forward with the case of a man whose conviction and death sentence for a 1991 slaying were tossed out by the state Supreme Court earlier this year.
The Supreme Court overturned Jermaine Wright's conviction and death sentence in May because prosecutors repeatedly withheld evidence that could have helped Wright's defense attorneys fight murder charges for the killing of Wilmington liquor store clerk Phillip Seifert.
After the Supreme Court decision, an attorney for Wright called on prosecutors to drop the case, saying it would "unconscionable'' to retry him.
But prosecutors said Monday that they are moving forward, although it's unclear whether the case might be resolved without retrying Wright.
Before his sentence was overturned, Wright had spent more time on death row than any other Delaware inmate.
