Police are searching for an alleged carjacker who they say forced a man to buy him drugs and drive him around.

Police say it happened back on November 13. A man was waiting at the traffic light on West Branch Avenue at the intersection with Blackwood Road in Pine Hill around 8:40 a.m. Suddenly a man allegedly entered the front passenger door of the victim’s vehicle and displayed a box cutter, threatening to cut the victim if he did not cooperate. Police say the suspect took the victim’s cell phone, $400 and forced him to drive to North Camden.

Police say the suspect ordered the victim to buy five bags of Heroin. The suspect then allegedly forced the victim to drive him to the Walter Rand Transportation Center in Camden where he forced the victim to take the train with him to the Ferry Avenue Station. When they arrived at Ferry Avenue, police say the suspect walked outside with the victim and then went into an unmarked yellow cab. Police also say the suspect returned the man’s cell phone before escaping.

Police believe the same suspect is connected to a similar incident on November 24 in Clementon, NJ. During that incident, police say the man approached an older driver around 7 a.m. at a traffic light at Gibbsboro and Blackwood roads and forced his way inside the car. The suspect, who police say was armed with a knife, allegedly stole $100 from the driver and ordered him to drive to 8th and Erie Streets in Camden where he got out of the vehicle.

The suspect in both incidents is described as a thin, white male in his mid to late 20’s with scruffy facial hair, standing around 5-foot-7 with brown hair midway down his neck.

If you have any information on the suspect’s whereabouts, please call Detective John Field at 856-783-1581 ext. 426.
