Caretaker Charged With Blind Dementia Patient's Death

Authorities say 70-year-old Sally Jean Fultz apparently wandered away from the Sleepy Hollow Personal Care Center in Blairs Mills sometime Tuesday or Wednesday.

The caretaker of a blind dementia patient found dead in a creek near a central Pennsylvania assisted living facility faces charges of neglect and involuntary manslaughter.

Authorities say 70-year-old Sally Jean Fultz apparently wandered away from the Sleepy Hollow Personal Care Center in Blairs Mills sometime Tuesday or Wednesday. Her body was discovered Wednesday by a neighbor in a creek about 100 yards from the care home.

Following the discovery of Fultz's body police charged 62-year-old Connie Ann Souders. Investigators say she was responsible for Fultz's care.

Police say Souders is being held at the Huntingdon County Jail on $100,000 bail. Online court records don't list an attorney for her.

The county coroner's office says a cause of death is pending.
