Police are on the hunt for the person or people responsible for slashing tires of several cars in a South Jersey mobile home community.

Itโ€™s happening in New Hanover Township, according to investigators. Police say 40 victims in the community of 500 have reported their tires being slashed since January with the most recent incident occurring Monday night. Police also say a car window was smashed in one incident.

The vandalism has caused at least $3500 in damage overall prior to Mondayโ€™s incident, according to investigators. Police have stepped up patrols in the town and are also reviewing surveillance tape. Residents are taking action as well, installing their own cameras and staying on alert.
