Car Service to Expand in Philly

Uber is expanding in Philadelphia.

The car service is seeking a new operations and logistics manager to expand service locally, the CityPaper reports.

On its website, the San Francisco-based company describes the position as a "unique opportunity to help drive growth."

Currently Uber only offers luxury towncars in Philadelphia through its UberBlack service.  Professional drivers, who are licensed by the Philadelphia Parking Authority, operate those vehicles, according to CityPaper. Customers can order rides through their computer or smartphone app.

Another ride-sharing service, SideCar, suspended its Philadelphia service in July after battling with the PPA, which alleges the transportation startup was operating an illegal taxi service.

Uber gained attention locally on Friday when it offered a Christmas tree delivery service to customers in Philadelphia and nine other cities.
