Cape May-Lewes Ferry Closed Due to Wind

There's some bad news for Memorial Day weekend travelers in Delaware.

The Cape May-Lewes Ferry is closed for the day Saturday because of high winds in the area.

Officials announced the cancellation on the ferry website.

“Operations cancelled Sat., May 25 due to high winds,” the message reads. “We apologize for the inconvenience.”

More than 11 million vehicles and 34 million passengers have crossed the 17-mile mouth of the Delaware Bay via the Cape May-Lewes Ferry since it first opened on July 1, 1964.
