Investigators Eye Arson as Cause of Camden Fire, Arrest Suspect

A person was arrested in Camden Friday morning, suspected of igniting a blaze that engulfed six rowhouses and sent seven people to the hospital.

The flames tore through the homes on Haddon Avenue near Division street early Friday. Five children and two adults were taken to the hospital to be checked and treated for smoke inhalation, police said.

Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson later said that officers took one person into custody in connection with the fire, suspecting that it was set deliberately.
